Heroes comments, but mostly rant
Heroes… is leaving me underwhelmed. Was the dialogue always this cheesy (I kinda think so, but I guess it didn’t bother me so much before)? Some things that are happening are just plain stupid. Last week: Why can’t Hiro save his father? Because Tosau doesn’t have a brain tumor like Charlie did, right? If fate has a way of straightening itself out (you can’t change a fixed future), then Hiro had no business stopping Peter from blowing up NY, nor does Peter have any business saving the world from the Legacy Virus. Hiro uses his power all the time to save people. I see no reason why he shouldn’t be able to use it to save daddy. There’s no sense to it.
I wish they hadn’t shown Bennet dying and Bennet resurrected in one episode. It would have been so much more dramatic if we hadn’t known last week that he isn’t really dead. Now, the Bennet family grief is just filling time until the reunion which you know is coming. It takes away from the heartstrings. Plus, the focus was so much on Claire and her pretty!crying, that they seem to forget completely that Lyle lost his dad too, and it’s his sister’s fault, but she’s the one who gets to be all tragic while he and his mom are background filler. Losing a parent is a family tragedy that involves all the kids, I should know. It fell pretty flat where these sort of topics usually get me in a second.
Hiro zipping to the past (after his firm resolve last week, and last year, and everytime he doesn’t change the past/future even though he does it all the time anyway… yeah) to conveniently hear of Adam’s connivingly, dastardly plan (why doesn’t Adam not break free from two guys’ hold and flee the facility, he can do whatever because he can’t really get hurt – hell, he fought an entire army and walked free, we’ve seen it only a month ago!) in three seconds flat (good timing with the time jump there, bud!), to jump back to Ando’s bi-weekly exposition, to jump to Primatech precisely (again, great, great timing there) in time to meet Peter and Adam… just, wow.
Peter… I can sorta get why he’s behind Adam: The guy saves Nathan’s life plus he’s been indoctrinated by him for months in the company ward, believing him to be his friend (when there’s no one else you stick to the guy who’s been at your side, saved your life and saved your brother), but Hiro and Peter just duking it out (as much as I am looking forward to seeing it and please Heroes writers don’t wimp out on this one), how dumb are the both of them to not have a little private talk about the matter first? Peter’s heard enough people warning him about Adam that he can at least hear Hiro out on this (he knows Adam’s set on getting to that virus and he knows what’s at stake: he can’t think that Hiro would want to release this virus or stop him from destroying it). They can freeze time indefinitely, for eff’s sake! Talk it out, set things straight, hear the other side, then decide to kick each other’s ass if ya still wanna. Peter can still read minds, yes? At least let them show if Adam can’t be read like they did with Mama Petrelli.
And Hiro’s sword charge… if the writers are in any way logical Peter will just telekinetically knock it far, far away in a heartbeat. Hell, it’s what Sylar should have done in the finale if he hadn’t been too stupid to just stand and stare at Hiro running at him with a drawn sword even though he’d stopped speeding bullets before. Hiro’s one advantage is that he can teleport instantly and has much better control over it than Peter does. Use that, not the stupid sword. Although, I root for Peter. Hiro’s just been too repetitive and boring this season.
By the by, since Peter’s been near Bob, can he now turn stuff to gold? Cause that’s pretty cool. If there’s a finale showdown between Peter and Sylar again, I want it to end (after a long, long, sweaty battle) with Peter turning Sylar to a big, gold statue. I can just see it creeping up Sylar’s arm and encompassing him, gilding him solid. Now that would be a great effect. Heh.
Maya, what a traitorous hag to dump the brother who gave up his life, future and family to stand by her side (she must have killed not only his bride but most of their family and friends, right?) and to help her get better, and she turns him over for a dude she met 3 days ago. Bah. As if all the hardships Alejandro went through for her proves that he hates her. If anything, he loved her too much. Anyway, good riddance. I hope Sylar moves on to her skullcap quickly – there are way too many cast members on this show!
Though I love Elle and Adam. I just hope Adam has more depth besides “must end world because I is just so jaded and superbad!”. What is his motive to release the virus? To be the last man standing? Well, he, Peter and Claire that would be… then they can have a lot of pretty sex together and repopulate the world with very, very pretty children! Actually, does the virus kill healers? I can’t remember, did Mama Petrelli say in the future Peter died of the virus or was it just Nathan? If Claire’s blood is the key to curing the virus, and thus Peter’s too, why wasn’t it used to save Nathan? Is the 38 virus an incurable strain? It’s a different virus than the one Niki has now, right? She’s not contagious (but wouldn’t it be great if she was and the virus has already been released through her and everything people are doing to stop 38 from being released is already too late and it wasn’t even Adam’s fault? Nevermind).
And I want Peter to stop and think of the obvious for a moment. If he changes the future where the virus is released and saves the population, then where does he expect to find and save Caitlin? He knows where she’ll be now (right where he left her), but if he changes the future, where will she be? In limbo maybe? In an alternate world? Will time change around her but she stays fixed where she is and just pop up? Perhaps when he and Hiro freeze time and have a good long chat about the future, the virus and Adam (yeah, like that’s gonna happen), Hiro, who has a much better grasp of his power, can go to the future (with Peter or with his directions) before it’s changed and grab Caitlin and bring her back. Then the three of them together can tie up Adam, sound him out and destroy the virus. Now that would be teamwork. Think it’ll pan out this way? Naaaah.
Too much contrivance... cannot cope. Will still watch because I am easy.
Nyways, Heroes, bah humbug. Don't even get me started on House. I have a new love now.
Supernatural! Oh, Dean.

But quickly, Hiro has now learnt from his dad what he should not do and that's why he's not doing what he did back in Season 1. Even if he's jumping back and forth hearing things and trying to stop what's gonna happen. Since it hasn't happened yet he has a bit of leeway. ;)

Time and events can be changed by time travel and Peter not blowing up NY proved that. Isaac painted it the buildings burning, but it didn't happen. If Hiro jumping forward in time fixes him in the time he should be in, then he should never have jumped back from five-years-in-the-future in the first place. But he did and because he did NY didn't blow and no one is saying that the bomb was fate and he and Ando should have stayed five years ahead.
Anyway, there's a paradox anyway because the reason NY didn't blow is because future!Hiro told Peter about it, and because Peter and Nathan knew about the future it didn't happen that way. But now that future!Peter isn't there anymore to tell Peter in that subway that he's going to blow, so the time-line should be straightening itself out again to the original timeline where Peter was ignorant and blew up... does that make sense?
Now, if blowing up NY was fate and the world/timeline is trying to right itself by lining up a different "apocalyps" and will keep lining them up every time they stop it (a la Final Destination) - so we get NY bomb, killer virus, maybe what else in the future, then I'll shut up. :)
And I do realise I'm obsessing about this waaaay too much and that it really doesn't matter! :)
