I was never super hung up on Smallville, but as someone who used to read the comics I felt obliged to watch. But the lack of a cohesive storyline really bugged me. As did the limp Lana.
But now that you've drawn the parallels between the HP and Smallville romances - great stuff! I never thought to analyse them that way! - I can hold my head up even higher on preferring Chloe to the others. I'm glad I'm consistent in my preferences! :-)
there's no passion there anymore
I haven't reached that point yet. My hatred for HBP/DH still flows strong. I've been spending a bit of time in various forums on fictionalley.org, mining all the mistakes in DH. We're still finding some every day. It's amazing how many flaws that book has ... how many ways there are to find them ... and how so many people swallowed it without a murmur.
While it's waning a bit my primary reason for being in the fandom - reading fan fiction - still pertains. Although the quality stuff seems to be drying up a lot, sometimes I find a pearl or two. Cheers!
