I´ve been looking for and reading Superman Returns fanfic. There isn´t that much out there that I can find (what I did find was on fanfiction.net. Pretty much all is still "in progress", and I guess that if I want to find some lengthy drama-superfic I´ll have to wait until fans have the time to produce them (how long ago did the movie air in the US? It´s been out only like two weeks over here). Dammit, I want fic now. Good fic. Angsty fic. Looong fic.
Meanwhile, these are the ones I found which are worth reading (at least, so far. Still IP, after all, so who knows where they might go...).

L'esprit de l'escalier, by TaironaDid I ever mention the greatest, most wonderful, probably most intense, dramatic and well-written fanfic on the web yet? It´s the
Betrayal Arc by Valerie Jones, set in the X-Men universe. It´s Gambit-centric, but features and elaborates on pretty much all main X-members (Scott, Jean, Rogue, Charles, Ororo, Hank, Bobby, Bishop, even Lilandra). This story is so complex, so well-rounded, so original, that you´re just in complete awe that it´s merely a fanfic (if only they could weave stories like this in the actual Marvelverse). It sets off after X-men #45 (the infamous Gambit/Rogue split, the end of The Age of Apocalypse and its aftermath), dealing with the X-traitor when it was still suspected Gambit/The Witness was behind it (Onslaught had not been written yet, but don´t worry, the sequels weave even Onslaught perfectly into the plot). What Valerie plotted is so much better then what canon invented. After finishing Betrayal, you can hardly imagine anything could be better. Read the sequels. They are just as good, if not better. This is one of the first fanfics I ever read, which is a shame, because there is VERY little in any fandom that has ever been able to match this, if any. This story has it all. Adventure, drama, angst, humour, plot, romance, good writing, good characterisation all around, and Gambit.
Read her other stories too (under the same link). They are just as good. Thick as Thieves (co-written with Lori McDonalds) in a nutshell: Ice-Man falls for a Thief woman and becomes Gambit´s apprentice to get near her. Ice Man has never been better written (and has always been in real need of some hardcore development). It is a true shame that Valerie does not write anymore (her main stories are finished, her sequels are unfinished, but read them anyway, because she got very far with them).
If you finish these and have caught the Gambit-vibe, have a go at Lori McDonald´s
Experiment #213 series, and her Gestalt Arc.
