So I went to movieicons @ LJ for Pirates icons and snagged the one up here (wanting to bring in a little humour).

This one was hard to resist though:



I also saw Superman this friday. I was expecting to probably like the action, not the movie itself (the trailer made me laugh it was so horrendously cliche). I really very much enjoyed it though! I'm quite into comic movies, and I love Batman, Spiderman and X-Men (which are all comics I've been into to some degree). I've never seen or read any Superman (no comics, no movies, no Smallville, no Lois and Clark), but the story is well known to me (even with it never drawing me in, you usually get the gist of it when in comicland and movieverse). The movie sure had cliches, but it was all handled really well and with a wink, while the story itself had lots of drama to entertain an angstchick like myself.

The scene with the airplane was thrilling (and the ending in the stadium hilariously tacky). Best scene in the movie, actionwise.

I actually like that Superman, unlike the aforementioned heroes, isn't shunned by society or maligned by the press, but instead really is considered to be everyone's hero! What a novel concept! :)

I also loved Superman Returns, I didn't write about it for some reason though, it followed so well the first two films in the saga! They were quite faithful to the style.

And Brandon is simply gorgeous. I still squee even after a month, he has great chemestry with Lois too. :)

I never saw the first two films, but I'm actually (to my great surprise) reading Superman fanfics, and one of them explained the history of the end of the second film (how Lois could have gotten pregnant!). So that helped with making sense of it all. :)
