I've selected some pics from my holidy reel (I also downsized them to ease the loading)... I have so many pictures it's hard to pick, but I managed a bit of variation, I think. The first are pictures of Maya cities (all of which where mysteriously abandoned around the year 900. There are many theories as to why, but nobody knows for sure. Doesn't that make you intrigued?), rediscovered and - mostly - restored.

Chitzen Itza, the tallest and most famous Piramid (of Toltec and Maya influence) in Mexico:

2x Palenque, the Maya ruin I thought most beautiful:

Tikal in Guatemala, a site in the middle of the Jungle, which made it the most adventurous dig. Only about 20% of the ruins has been recovered, the rest is still buried under the jungle. The mere thought of what more could be revealed is exciting. You also get to see how the jungle creeps around and swallows civilisation whole. Also, you have a big chance of running into wildlife like monkeys, nosebears (Risotte), Tukan's, or (and yes, one of those is my hand):

This pic I just think precious. It was taken on the Rio Dulce and shows a Jesus bird walking on endless yards of water lilies. See the baby chick?

Some nice pictures I snapped of the people of Guatemala. Look at the colourful clothing the woman is wearing! That one was made at the market in Chichicastenango, the biggest market of the country (which sells lots and lots... of the same):

The one with the boy was made at Lake Aticlan, a beautiful deep lake situated between three vulcanoes:

At the end of our holiday we stayed at Playa del Carmen, a popular beach resort which is rather more subdued (though still extremely touristy) than Cancun. Here you can swim in the blue, blue Caribbean Sea (alas, no pirates) and relax, watching the beautiful, cloudy sunsets (it was the rain season, and though it never bothered, we did have quite some rain at times!):

Et voila.

BEAUTIFUL! I can't believe you let that spider touch you, that is if that's your hand! Creepy and scary...just in time for Halloween. ;)

Yeah, that's my hand on the right. I actually have a great fear of spiders, which is what made me do it (overcoming my fears, bla bla). In the pictures that have the spider on my hand, my mouth is continuously open in shock, which is hilarious.

I only got one good Halloween, the semester I was in the States (visiting Salem then). Unfortunately this holiday hasn't much caught on yet where I live (though it's rising). I would love to celebrate it here! :)

Awwww! How beautiful pics! I love the one of the leaves on the water and the bird and also the one of the spider! So gorgeous.

And I also love the Caribean Blue. Sigh. Thanks so much for posting and this reminds me I haven¡t post my own from MacchuPicchu.

Thanks Dary.

I've been meaning to ask: who's that in your icon? She looks beautiful but strangely childlike. It keeps drawing my attention. :)

Eh, she is a quite famous model. I also find her face very intriguing. Let me see, I think her name is Gemma Ward. ;)
