Heroes Premiere

Saw the Heroes double parter yesterday. I don’t even know what I think about it.
On the one hand, everyone is so stupid and some of the plots are just so ridiculous.
On the other hand, there is still a sense of awesomeness about the whole thing.
I still love Peter, think I always will, but Ventigmilia is not looking as good to me as he did in s1 (YMMV).
No idea why the future!Peter didn’t just time-travel to half an hour before Nathan’s statement and simply tell his brother and himself why it’s a baaaad idea to reveal the truth about the powers. Guess it wouldn’t be quite as shocking that way, eh?
Wouldn’t now!Peter have all the abilities that future!Peter has after coming in contact with him? Whatever ability it is that is shapeshifting future!Peter’s appearance, or that put now!Peter in the other body, now!Peter should be able to do that to.
Jeez, at one point Peter and Sylar are so going to need a reboot. I think their powers are really cool, but what can’t they do at this point? No idea why future!Peter didn’t heal Nathan himself: He has Claire’s ability and he’s seen Adam do it once before (he has Adam’s abilities too, of course, that’s a double-whammy of healing right there on Pete). Instead, he tells Claire over the phone she can’t help, and he sits outside the waiting room even though he can be invisible. Get in there and heal, Pete! He didn’t want to actually kill Nathan, he admitted that, so there is just no sense. No reason for Linderman to do it.
Wonder if Linderman is only a figment of Nathan’s skewed imagination (his “God” insertion), or if he’s actually some sort of entity.
Mama Petrelli telling future!Peter to eff off was a bit annoying. It’s not like future!Peter isn’t her son, ya know.
Sylar is? God, I hope she’s manipulating him. How lame to have a thirdSummers Petrelli brother, honestly.
Matt had a plot? *snore* Though he did have the best line (“Thanks, turtle!”).
Hiro had a plot? Oh noes, another I teleported exactly to the right spot at the right time in the space of 1 minute, the world is ending, and I’m back time jump. *snore*
Mohinder is the worst scientist ever. Never mind suddenly discovering with one simple, 5-minute test something his father couldn’t figure out in 20 years, but he just injects himself with it without a single test (hell, even try it on a mouse first maybe?). Stupid, stupid, stupid. I actually didn’t mind Maya so much for now. She was right to call Mohinder out on his stupid plan. The sex? Eh. Mohinder looked hot though. Stupid, but hot (not at the end).
Claire calls her birth mom “mom” in front of her adoptive mom? Really?
It was jarring how Meredith flashed her fire-power even though Claire already knows about it, just for the special effect.
Never mind that everyone who used to be normal (Mohinder, Ando) will apparently become empowered. Who wants to be normal anyway? Then the show runners can’t splurge on you with their CGI budget.
So enter Jessica? I actually liked her power, and I think I like her better than Nikki too. Hope Nikki is gone, but then, no one ever dies and stays dead on this show (which sort of kills the suspense).
Random mindless pillaging by random mindless villains. Yay? And Peter is so dumb he can’t think of anything else but to step in the car with them (did he lose his powers because he can become invisible. Maybe he only has the villain’s powers now)?
Still love Sylar, Claire and great effect of Elle’s power exploding. You can tell this show has a lot of money to spend. On the other hand, maybe they would be spending more time on actual development or plothole-filling if they didn’t spend it all on “Oooh, what looks cool?”
Still too many characters with too many random plots with too many turns, which takes you out of the story for their randomness. At least S1 went at a steady pace despite the number of developments.
Despite my whinging I’ll be around for the next eps.
